OCTOBER NEWS
********************************************* Just a reminder to make sure your have wormed your horses. See Barb with your proof of worming if you haven't already.
*********************************************
The trails and the big field are ready for fall riding. Check them out! It's going to be really cold before we know it so lets get some riding time in!
********************************************* The barn looks so nice without the cobwebs. The spider population seems to be down too, so please make sure to keep the webs knocked down. If we knock the new webs down everytime we clean our stalls we should be able to keep on top of it. Thanks!
*********************************************
There has been a field rotation this week. Please be aware of this when turning horses in and out so you be sure to get them to the right fields! Thanks!
********************************************* If you haven't had a chance to meet the new horses take a minute to see Belle and Candy. Belle is a beautiful (and LARGE) Belgian and Candy is a flashy paint! Check them out!
********************************************* We want to wish a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Katie who will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday Oct. 4th....its her 21st!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!!

September 2009
SEPTEMBER NEWS
********************************************* The Creekside Cookout was a HUGE success! We had such a wonderful time. It was soooo hot though! There was so much good food and lots of fun was had by all. There are pictures in the photo galleries.
*********************************************
We have been working on mowing some of the summer growth out of the trails. Quite a bit has been accomplished and while we are not totally finished there is a lot of enoyable riding space cleaned up. The trails and the big field are ready for fall riding. Check them out!
*********************************************
Thanks to everyone for getting the cobwebs cleaned up. The barn looks so nice without them. Fall seems to be a bad time for spiders so please make sure to keep the webs knocked down. If we knock the new webs down everytime we clean our stalls we should be able to keep on top of it. ********************************************* It is time for fall worming again! We like to keep the barn on the same schedule so if you could get it done sometime this month that would be great! Also with the thoughts of colder weather in the future, if you haven't already taped your horses grain "recipie" on the lid of your grain bin, please do so before the weather gets so cold that the tape wont stick. We need to have those "recipies" quickly available incase of any circumstance or emergency that would require feeding not already prepared in your baggies.
*********************************************
If you haven't had a chance to meet the new horses take a minute to see Rhoda and Cody. Also be watching this month for the arrival of Azul (finally!) and Buckeye! They should both be here the first week of September!
*********************************************
For those of you who enjoy the Preble County Pork Festival the dates this year are Sept. 19th and 20th. This is an awesome festival so make plans to attend!
*********************************************
If you would like to make a donation to help wth the cost of feeding the cats you may bring in cat food and drop it in the cat food bin. They aren't real finiky however they will not eat Alley Cat brand food. Anything else is great to them though! If you would rather make a monetary donation instead of going out and purchasing a bag of food there is a donation jar set up by the chalkboard. Any donations and coupons for food are a great help and appreciated! They do a wonderful job of keeping the rodents and snakes away and deserve a reliable daily meal.
*********************************************
We want to wish a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Darrell who will be celebrating his birthday on Saturday Sept. 26th and to Elizabeth who will be celebrating her 21st on Sunday Sept. 27th.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARRELL!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELIZABETH!!
*********************************************

Reminder...If you have not already done so, please remove the cobwebs from your stall area. We are trying to get the spider population under control. Getting the webs down really does help...and it it looks nice too! If you could wash off your grain bins and "de-web" them, that would be great too!
************************************
Lots of changes this month at Creekside! We have had some stall openings, which is rare, and without skipping a beat we are already to the full mark again! Stay tuned to meet the new horses and wonderful people coming in!

JULY 2009
JULY NEWS
************************************ We want to warn everyone to be on the lookout for wasps around the gates. Several boarders have been stung this summer. We have knocked down all the nests we could find and applied spray but you never know when they will be back to rebuild. Just be careful and watchful for them.
************************************
The shop vac is available at the barn to use for getting the cobwebs cleaned away in and around your stalls. There are also several brooms and long handled dusters. Bob has been so nice and thoughtful to help out and remove the cobwebs in the common areas and lounge area. We really need to get them cleaned out to reduce the spider population, not to mention how nice it looks when they are gone! Please take some time to clean them down as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
************************************
The kittens seem to be up and running so it is fine to leave all the doors open in the daytime. Leave the back open at night while keeping the front closed at night for safety for the horses. While on the subject of the kittens, Sara R. is still taking sponsors to finish spaying and neutering the cats. The cost is $20 and this is a very worthwhile project. Please see Sara R. or Barb if you would like to sponsor a cat.
************************************
Austin will be celebrating his birthday on Friday July 10th. If you see him around the barn be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUSTIN!!!!

MAY 2009
MAY NEWS
************************************
Just a quick reminder to be patient with the weather conditions. Turnout decisions are made early in the morning and quite often the weather conditions do change either for the better or the worse. Sometimes the weather forcasters get it wrong too and the predicted weather never occurs. Every effort is made for the horses to enjoy a SAFE turnout. If the horses are in, please be mindful of not only the weather conditions but also the field conditions. Now that we have freshly seeded fields we need to keep an eye on the mud to make sure the fields stay nice. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
************************************
Also while keeping in mind the possibility of the horses being in at times, PLEASE keep your hay bins filled. If you have no hay down at the stall we will assume that you do not want your horse hayed. ************************************
It is also time for yearly shots! Once again while trying to keep the barn on the same schedule please be sure to get your vaccinations and then give a copy of the records to Barb.
************************************
Chris will be celebrating his birthday on Saturday May 2. If you see Chris be sure to give him a hard time! haha!

APRIL NEWS
************************************
BIG BIG BIG NEWS FOR CREEKSIDE!!! As you all well know we have been full with a waiting list for some time now. Finally we have had an opportunity to do something about it!! We have been able to purchase some adjoining land and finally EXPAND!!! We will be building a new barn that will accomodate an additional 25 horses and are adding 3 additional pastures in the rear of the property. Current boarders will have the first opportunity to choose which barn to board in. With this new expansion we also are adding another indoor arena that will be complete with a jump course AND a mechanical bull! We will now have the ability to host events and even a small rodeo on the weekends! This truly allows us to accomodate the exciting worlds of BOTH english and western horsemanship! This project is starting immediatly and should be up and running as early as May! AWESOME NEWS!!!!
************************************
*REMINDER* Now is the time for your springtime worming Please try to complete your wormings the first week of April so we can keep the whole barn on the same worming rotation schedule. ************************************
It is also time again for yearly shots! Once again while trying to keep the barn on the same schedule please be sure to get your vaccinations and then give a copy of the records to Barb.
************************************

On the subject of the cats...they do a WONDERFUL job of keeping the rodents and snakes away from the barn! I think we all appreciate that the only "critters" we see are in the mouths of the cats! They still do love their cat food too in addition to whatever they catch. If anyone would like to donate a bag of cat food from time to time just put it in the cats bin. If you don't want to participate bringing an entire bag of food you can also leave a donation in the blue box towards the purchase of some food or even drop any coupons you can spare into the blue box as well. I know barn cats should not be "finiky" however these cats will NOT eat Alley Cat brand cat food. Anything else seems to be fair game and they gobble it up. Thank you very much in advance for any help in keeping these guys fed! ************************************
Missy will be celebrating her birthday on March 5th....If you see her at the barn be sure to wish her a very happy birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISSY!!!!

WELCOME to Dawn and Paris! Paris is a beautiful bay! They are a perfect addition to our barn family. We are happy to have them both at Creekside!
************************************ With all the snow and ice we are experienceing now the horses have been having some problems with ice balls in their hooves. This is not just the horses with shoes but the barefoot ones too. Here is an interesting acticle discussing the concerns of ice balled feet. We also have had a few minor injuries from the hard sharp ice. We are keeping the horses in when the weather is treacherous and trying to balance it with letting them out when it is possible to do so safely. Please be aware of these additional concerns during this inclimate weather.
